Just been getting out the fury covers for winter. Although the days are still warm, the nights are starting to get chilly again.  These houses just are not built for the winter.  It's time to start preparing for the darker nights; nothing like Britain, of course, but after this hot summer, we are going to feel the cold for sure!

    Reporter Katie Stewardson

    Picture
My roving reporter, Katie Stewardson, has been around and about, in Gran Alacant today.  Womens contraception has been her hot topic for this week.  Knowing nothing about the pill myself, I was only too happy to let her document her experience.

Perfect service, with a Spanish smile as usual at our local farmacia.  In Britain, you have to see a Doctor, before being allowed 'The Pill'. Here in Spain, like a lot of things, you don't

Of course Microgynon is free in The UK.  In Spain it will cost you 16€ for a month supply. Not bad when you consider, how long you have to wait to see a GP back in Blighty!

Thanks Katie, look forward to your next expose  and next time, don't slip on the front step, falling flat on your face!

I was woken up this morning at 4am, by the sound of rain.   It's been such a long time since I last heard it, I wasn't quite sure at first. There I was, naked on the balcony, dragging in my cushions from the chairs, all the while trying to save my dignity.  Finally got to sleep at 6am.  Rain gone, back to its usual hot self! Gotta love Spain!

    21st Anniversary

Can I once again thank everyone for all their kind messages, emails and cards, received on the occasion of our 1st Wedding Anniversary, also celebrating our 21 years together.  I have included a few of the many tidings we received yesterday.

This was a difficult 1st Anniversary for us both, being separated as we are, so I wasn't really too sure what to expect, by way of celebration!

I popped out with Katie in the early evening for a bottle of Rioja in Sierra Mar Square.  At 8€ a bottle, you really can't go wrong.  I wouldn't usually be drinking red wine, as I much prefer a beer in the hot Spanish sun; by way of celebration, I made an exception.
It was lovely to go down to Masa Square after a couple of bottles, to meet Sammi, who is always great company.  Sammi has lived here for a few years now and has always made me feel welcome. From The Square, we headed to the strip, Carabassi, where there was Karaoke at Shooters. By this time, I was well on my way to getting completely drunk; the only way you will get me into a bar with karaoke.  it was actually pretty good down there.  Finally on to see our Jamie in Brothers.  Spent a while talking to the two owners and getting even more, worse for wear.

Woke up this morning, in bed next to Jamie, in Sammi's gorgeous home. I couldn't actually remember getting there, or even at what time.  Judging on my banging head, I had a fabulous night, spent with some wonderful people, in the absence of Darrell.

    Happy Anniversary Darrell! x
