    Inner Child

Christmas isn't just for children.  Us adults can enjoy the festive season, just as much.  Get in touch with your inner child and recall memories, from Christmases past; focus on the fun you had and celebrate, just like it's 1975!

Took Precious back to the vets this morning, despite the stormy weather and floods across Gran Alacant.  The vet gave her another check up and after an injection, a clean bill of health!

    Christmas Fate

My local square, Sierra Mar, pulled out all the stops for Elche Orphanage yesterday. The local bars and restaurants had organised a fund raiser, providing presents for the children and hosting a Christmas Fate , with Christmas carols, Santa Claus, a raffle, tombola, and the stall I hosted 'Guess the weight of the Christmas Cake!'  Lee, Bar Manager at Zest, had made a wonderful cake, contestants guessing it's weight, between 3lb and 6lb.  Jennifer won, guessing 4lb 1oz.

The square was busy, with locals, families and children, all enjoying the Christmas atmospere.  It was a very traditional evening, something I haven't experienced in many years and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  With one notable exception, Dawn, 'The No Wives Club' were in attendance and everyone seemed to have a great time.

Lexi Legs was there, having her legs waxed for charity; she looked fabulous as usual.  It was actually nice to sit down and spend some quality, if not a little drunken time with her, which I have not had the chance to do previously.

Some of the children from the orphanage were there, which was fantastic.  What a lovely bunch they were, so polite and curteous, offered greetings in English and were truly warm and full of life, enjoying everything everyone had done for them.

I would like to thank one of my readers, Sue for coming up and chatting to me, whilst on the cake stall yesterday.  Your words about the blog were welcome and so nice to hear. Good luck with your operation and remember if there is anything I can do for you, please don't hesitate to ask.

The whole event in the Square is really down to the hard work and dedication of Pam Hardy.  Pam, a local resident often gives her time for charity and is a local treasure.  This community, in Gran Alacant, are one of the most philathropic, I have ever come across.  My bad experience with a large multinational charity, in the UK, had until recently tainted my view of all charities and the work they do.  The residents of this neighbourhood have restored my faith, in the good work others can do, at a local level, for those in need.  The concept of true charitable giving, is alive and well in Gran Alacant, and I am very proud to be a part of the community, playing a small role in making the lives of others better!

Just like Jamie, Precious has also been unwell, probably for about two weeks now.  Rushed her to the vets earlier this evening, as she started to bleed from the nose.  It turns out she has an infection and had been sneezing so much, she burst a blood vessel.  One injection today, one on Saturday, then all being well, she should be fine, fingers crossed!

    Jamie - Spanish Flu!

Jamie continues to suffer from 'Spanish Flu'.....The sudden drop in temperature, has caught Jamie and many others by surprise.  There are a lot of coughs and colds going around Gran Alacant at the moment; luckily for me, I have nothing yet.

Katie picked us up this morning, to take us down to the pharmacy. You can buy most medicines over the counter here, so we spoke to the pharmacist, who suggested a suitable remedy.

It is unusual, that most illnesses are dealt with over the counter at the chemist over here, but it does seem to work perfectly well and surgery waiting rooms are not left clogged up with people and minor ailments.

That's Jamie and the cats ill, as for me, well, I'm still OK!
