    Nia!

    Picture
It was farewell to Nia, Paul and Michele's daughter.  Today she left for Toronto, Canada, after spending Christmas with Mother and Father here in Spain.  It was a joy getting to know her and I look forward to seeing her again in the summer.  We spent a pleasant evening, with a few drinks at Zest, to toast her journey home!

It has been a beautiful day today, so I have taken the opportunity to get all the washing done finally.  Actually I made Jamie to his own for a change and clean his room.  If you don't make him do it, he wont.

I have cleaned most of Casa Caprice now, just got the bathrooms to do tomorrow.  With Christmas over, it's a perfect time to clean the house, throw out the old (so beware Jamie) and look forward to a better, more successful and  happy New Year!

Making Jamie eat food, can be an impossible task!   Still, he managed to digest most of it last night; he just needs to consume more, then maybe he would cope with the inclement weather, throughout winter, just like me! To be honest it is only colder at night. Temperatures during the day are still in the twenties.  It just feels chilly, obviously, Jamie being the size he is, feels it more!

With the big Day over, I've been boiling up the Christmas carcus, to make turkey stock. Just put the chicken into a pan, with a chopped onion, carrott, garlic clove and some celery.  Season well and boil!

    Boxing Day!

    Image description
I hope everyone had a great Boxing Day today; I say everyone, but in Spain, we don't actually celebrate the day after Christmas. Everything here has been much the same as any other day.

I have just spent the day in doors, recovering from last night.  To be honest I wasn't even that bad.  I had a slight hangover this morning, nothing to write home about though.

Jamie has been ill most of the day, after the excess of the last few weeks caught up with him.  We have had a long hard talk.  I am worried that he is literally over doing it. He had a particularly bad few days over Christmas and had been upset for various different reasons, which I hope he gets sorted soon.

On Boxing Days in the past, I would have gone to my Grandmothers; actually that was many, many years ago.  I haven't actually had a proper family Christmas for years. For me that is a disappointment, since I was the one member of my family, that enjoyed the festive period.   As time went on, myself and Darrell, did our own thing.  Most years we invited people round to our home, who had nowhere else to go, either because they were living away from their kin folk or had none in the first place. Personally, that is what I believe everyone should do.  Christmas is after all a time for giving.

So, this was my first Christmas in Spain and I have mixed feelings about it. The Spanish do not celebrate in the same way, the British do; that's not to say it's worse, just very different, less commercial.  I obviously did not like spending Christmas Day on my own, but thoroughly enjoyed spending time with friends in the evening.  Boxing day has been much better, at least being in the company of someone, helped with being apart from Darrell this year.  I hope next year is different still and myself and Darrell can spend time together, as we always have done!

    Happy Boxing Day y'all!
