    Corrine!

We had a lovely visit from an old friend and fellow 90s club kid, Corrine yesterday. Corrine had been spending a week in Torrevieja, and was heading back to Alicante Airport, so decided to pay a visit. I have had some wonderful fun nights with this girl, back home in Southampton and it was a joy to see her; she always makes me laugh. Like all of us, who enjoyed clubbing in the 90s, she has a lifetime of memories of fond and not such fond times; it was great chatting with her.

Corrine loves cats, spending many happy hours with our two when visiting our home in the UK. She has an immediate  connection with our feline friends; Precious and Lily always enjoyed being around her. Corrine is part of a close network of friends, who are still there; it isn't until you  emigrate, that you realise who the special ones are. If anything, moving away has allowed me to spend far better quality time with those closest. Memories are important at my time of life, visits and keeping a connection alive is invaluable.

We have seen a lot of old friends this year and I have enjoyed welcoming everyone, who has come over to Spain to see us. Reminiscences from a previous life are important, in order to ease gently into Spanish ways. It's always easier, when you see the ones you love.

    Donald Trump and North Korea!

    Image description
Two of the Worlds biggest players are at it again; more hot air and bluster from two leaders who are not fit to run a car let alone a country. People who know me, understand my views about Donald Trump; the President who should never have been elected; the worst Commander in Chief, in recent modern history. He is likely to get worse over the coming months and years; if we actually survive that long. The posturing between North Korea and the United States, has been seen many times before, we are all used to it. There is a difference this time; Donald Trumps words are inflammatory , without thought or diplomacy. This man has no place representing the American public, he is dragging us ever closer to war. An ego bigger than a brain is a dangerous combination. Mr Trump needs to be reigned in, before it's too late!

Of course President Trump is not the only rogue here, Kim Jong-Un, the leader of North Korea, is also equally bombastic and volatile, responsible for the Worlds current position, teetering on the precipice of armageddon. China's interjection on the side of North Korea, is equally intransigent and stubborn; a dangerous triangle, that could explode any day. Today this planet we inhabit is a very menacing place and nobody seems to be defusing the situation we all find ourselves in. I am still hopeful that negotiations behind the scenes are carrying on and war will be averted.

Kim Jong-Un has threatened the USA with a nuclear attack on its soil; President Trump has responded in the only way he knows, fighting fire with fire. I am under no misconception, I understand this is all part of a strange play, in which the final act, has yet to be written. There are no winners during this war of words, just as there will not be during a nuclear strike. When the cold war ended, I thought we had seen the last of this insane drift to war; I was wrong. Wars just don't happen, they are caused by bad men; President Trump and Kim Jong-Un are both BAD men; I make no apologies for saying that. History is littered by the atrocities of inauspicious leaders, carrying out heinous acts of savagery in other peoples names; a reason to cause terror and an excuse to inflict pain, removing the guilt of responsibility.

Kim Jong-Un is a proven criminal, who has been left in  position for far too long. He has brutalised his Country, tortured, maimed and killed, justifying his actions, as father of the nation, a nation brainwashed by his discredited, paranoid regime. Donald Trump is no war criminal, yet. However his policies have been exposed as an affront to human dignity, racist and discriminatory; pressing the nuclear trigger, would just cement his legacy and the Words fate.

As individuals, there is very little we can do to prevent what happens next. Only our voices and words can be highlighted to express our revulsion at what those we elect or not, are doing to this world we live in. Make sure your voice is heard, as I do every day, I write this blog. We are heading towards the point of no return, speak up before it's too late!

Abandoned - Looking For A Home!

    Image description
Meet the two temporary (well I say temporary) editions to our family. As yet they have no names and we are not sure weather or not they will be staying with us long term.

We have set up a 'safe room' in the downstairs bathroom where they will be staying for the next few days, as we gradually introduce them to Lily, which is likely to be a difficult process; especially as they are so young, certainly not of an age, they should have been removed from their mother. Looking at them, I would say they are no more that six or seven weeks old. They will need a lot of love and care to build them up. At the moment I am concerned they are just too small to survive, but will do my best to get them fit and healthy. Darrell has just gone out to Mercadona to grab some kitten food and milk; I was told today, they need to be fed as often as they can.
    Image description
These two fur babies were dumped and abandoned in my bosses garden, keeping him awake for most of the night. When I arrived at work yesterday, he explained the situation and after some delicate negotiations I decided to take them in, fostering them until homes can be found. With Lily now fifteen years old, I really didn't want to take on any more cats. I love them to bits, but they do limit your every move, as independent as they are. We are unable to go away when we want and holidays at the moment are a no no. So a foster home it is, until we can find someone to take these two characters on. We haven't been able to get close enough to find out their sex yet, but as they become more used to us, we will overcome these little difficulties.

There is a problem with stray cats in Spain and there are various charities and rescue centres set up to help. These two could have gone to such an organisation, but with Lily getting on, we thought it would be a good idea for her to have a couple of companions for a while, before they are re-homed. It is also great for the soul to do something good once in a while; if we can afford to feed this pair, then rather than burden a charity further, we can do our bit!

I have always been a bit of a soft touch where cats are concerned; yes I am definitely a feline person, having grown up with cats since I was a child. I have no idea why people do the things they do to animals, it sickens me to my stomach. If you can't afford to have a cat, please don't even bother getting one. As the saying goes, these pets are not disposable, they are for life, so please don't abuse or abandon them.

If anyone in Gran Alacant is interested in taking these two bundles on, please contact me at LoungeD, through the GA Advertiser or by email and lets give these scared little kittens a new start in life!

Today they are still very nervous and have spent the night cuddled up to one another. At the moment they are laying in the shower together.

I am not sure how they ended up deserted but by the look of them, they could well have been abused, which is why they are so scared at the moment. I'm sure in time, they will begin to accept and trust myself, Darrell and Lily!

    Pretence

    Picture
    Picture
I am used to pretenders; those who falsify their friendship for personal gain. In time the facade will drop unmasking true intentions; only then can we assess credentials. Knowing is hard but not knowing is so much harder. Time heals wounds, in time others will see; time is all you need!

    Feel Good Kinda Day!

    Picture
I had a fantastic day at LoungeD yesterday, not that I haven't on every other day, but this Wednesday I felt on top form. We had some fantastic customers through the door; stories to tell and memories to make. The weather was also on the turn; cooler air was sweeping in along the coast. For the first time in months, we actually had some rain in Gran Alacant and what a welcome break it was; long overdue. As I write this entry today, sat on the sofa, I am not sweating uncontrollably, uncomfortably; It is cooler and much more bearable; a chilly 24 degrees!

    I will never be silenced!

    Image description
As I writer, I will never be silenced. People often feel uncomfortable by the things I compose; that is a matter for them not me.  I made a choice to document very difficult circumstances; situations that remain a source of contention; the exposure of injustices and more positively the start of new beginnings.

I make no apologies for the words I write, no guilt for exposing the guilty and no lies in place of truth. I write because I have to, people read because they want to and I hope to at least use my time productively doing what I was put on the Earth to do. Writing is indeed a passion, but using my preoccupation as a medium to help others is far more enlightening; making everything I compile worthwhile. Expressing how one feels in whatever capacity is important, whoever we are; whether we write, speak or put paint to canvas. Communicating our sentiment is an important, uniquely human trait; if we are silenced, we cease to evolve and grow, we become stifled; a prisoner of our mind.

However you choose to demonstrate your determination, is unimportant, the fact that you are creating, in the way you love best, is the only important issue at hand. As a child I read much; literature took me back to ancient times and books  escorted me on a journey of discovery. The words we write today, will be read by our ancestors in the future. I am no literary genius, far from it, but like Shakespeare I write what is important to me and those who scrutinize my efforts.

The key to the success or failure of the words you write, is whether someone else has found them useful and used them to adjust their life. I am not saying for one minute my writing has changed lives, but it has made others aware of important issues that disrupt our state of mind, causing pain everyday. People have begun to change their outlook because of a few simple words on a blog that I never believed would have any influence. I have spoken up for a silenced minority, who have suffered because of the abuse of others, I have received thanks for continuing to write as I do, criticism from those I am trying to expose and new challenges as my attention is diverted towards, other more demanding concerns.

Of course I write about a better life here in Spain and the more positive aspects of human nature, but I will not be silenced by those who believe in their own corruption and think I should let sleeping dogs lie; I wont! Don't let anyone silence your voice, words, dreams and beliefs; if they try, resist and make sure your voice is heard louder than ever before!
