    The Changing Scene!

'When it rains, it certainly rains!'

Gran Alacant finally had a taste of winter yesterday. The heavens opened and the rain came down by the bucket load. Earlier in the day LoungeD paid host to the Monte Mar bowls and Social club and their international counterparts. We opened our doors at 9.30am, serving tea and coffee to all those who took park and would like to congratulate our home team for their success.

Luckily the Bowls club missed the worst of the weather, which hit Calle Holanda about 3pm, flooding roads, in a deluge of torrential rain. Trapped at LoungeD, I spent an interesting few hours, talking to cutomers. The people who live in Gran Alacant are friendly, open and always willing to pass the time of day, part of the reason we love living and working in this part of Spain.

The weather is changing as winter fast approaches. Daytime temperatures are still a pleasant 28-30 degrees, but at night there is a distinct chill in the air. I've put on the winter duvet, the cats are getting in bed each night and in a few weeks the electric blanket will be out.

I hope all our customers are enjoying the changing scene; we look forward to welcoming you back soon. Happy travelling!

    Familiar Faces!

So far it has been a busy September; last night we had another fantastic evening at LoungeD. Plaza Mayor was busy, as we welcomed friends and familiar faces, old and new. I have been surprised to see the change in vibe, from August to September, having not worked a full season yet in Spain. September is turning into a busy month for us and we are delighted to welcome you all through the doors. If you haven't paid us a visit yet, pop in and say hi!

    Saturday!

Another busy night at LoungeD yesterday, with lots of familiar faces popping in for a drink or two. I have met many new people since working in Masa Squares newest bar; it feels wonderful to be a part of this welcoming community, on Calle Holanda.

    Chloe Gray

It was a final farewell, from myself and all of us at LoungeD, to Chloe, (Second from left) who is leaving her home in Gran Alacant, after a summer season of work here in Spain. She is traveling to Gran Canaria to begin working as part of her University course in the UK.

I have personally known Chloe, since moving to GA, nearly two years ago. She is a great friend and I will be sad to see her go. I know I speak for all of us, when I wish her all the luck in the World, for her new endeavours; I can't wait to see her next year, when she once again returns to Gran Alacant!

As well as saying goodbye to Chloe, we also gave a warm welcome to Paul Stokes daughter Nia, who arrived with her partner Caylee from Canada. It was fantastic to see Nia again; I know Paul and Michele were thrilled to bits!

Paul and Michele had arranged a surprise visit from two of Nia's friends, who were sat quietly hiding at LoungeD on her arrival. There were lots of emotions  as one would expect. I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all of you, during your stay in Gran Alacant. We will see you very soon!

Resident artist Richard Clay and wife Pat also joined us last night, for another evening of chat and laughter. These two are great characters and always a pleasure to talk with.

Richard appeared in this months GA Advertiser, together with an article about a painting, he composed and  gifted to local bar 'Dick Turpin' in Sierra Mar. The painting depicts legendary highwayman Dick Turpin on his horse Black Bess.

Richard has always enjoyed paining, which helps him to relax and unwind. I was lucky enough to be invited to his home recently, where I also had the privilege of seeing some of his work. Richard has a wonderful talent, always happy to speak about his interest, always a joy to see at LoungeD!

Today I have included a few reviews from our customers at LoungeD. If you would like to leave any comments or suggestions, you can do so, using our new business, facebook page, or directly to  this blog, (spanishviews.weebly.com;) please use the the contact box at the end of this entry and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

It was farewell to Paul Stokes (Pauls Hire and Michels Gift Shop) family, as they returned to the UK, after their eventful two week stay in Gran Alacant. It has been a pleasure meeting all of them, as it is, all our customers.

Finally some good news for me, since working at LoungeD, I have managed to lose some weight, about a stone now, not surprising working seven days a week, another personal goal achieved. Next time you see me, make sure you keep me running about; for the right reasons. of course.

    Muchas Gracias!
