Like many of us in Gran Alacant, my house is suffering with a damp problem. I last cleaned down the stair case to the solarium, four days ago. That's how expeditious the mould grows back.

These houses are just not built for the harsh conditions, Spain has experienced lately; there is also inadequate ventilation and no heating. Consequently, the houses can be damp and cold, this time of year.

The spores associated with mould, can cause a variety of health conditions. If left untreated, these conditions can cause severe harm. During the last few months I have been unwell, more than I would have expected, since I am rarely ill.  My symptoms are synonymous with mould exposure. For those with a weakened Immune system, the inhalation of spores can cause serious illness. Always seek to eliminate the problem, through better ventilation or stopping water ingress into your home; keep windows open and/or invest in a dehumidifier!
