Viaje Seguro!
Dinner with the Stewardsons on Sunday night. Darrell cooked one of the only things he knows how, pasta bake, which actually tasted great. Had a long chat about life in Spain. Andy and Katie have very similar views to us, have found very similar problems and have very clear ideas about their future here in Spain. Life for all of us is very different and Gran Alacant, has not been the place we thought it would be. That is not to say it is a bad place, it just isn't what we expected. I do actually love living here. The sense of community is the selling point for me. The Stewardsons are a prime example of people helping others through difficult times. I am naturally a proud person and rarely ask for help, but these two give it freely anyway. They will be living just round the corner and have offered to take me out in our car, wherever I need to go. I have to take Precious to the vets on Friday, and they have already offered to help. This is the community spirit I like, rarely seen now, in Britain. Thankfully I will have a close network of friends who will help in any eventuality!
Andy and myself dropped Darrell off at the airport at 8am on Monday. We made it as least emotional as possible. I personally do not believe, this is a time for emotion, it is a time for 'doing'. Darrell has a lot to deal with, when he reaches Perth and will have to remain as strong as he can. Equally I have to remove the emotions behind our temporary separation, in order to move forward. I still have to live my life out here with Jamie and will continue to do just that, until Darrell returns in March. I have a lot of friends in Gran Alacant now, more than I could have ever imagined. This is testimony to this place and those that live here. Britain seems a very lonely place in comparison, at least for me, with lack of family, others may of course think differently!
As I write this, Darrell, should be half way between Sydney and Perth on the last leg of his two day journey. He should be landing at Perth International Airport at 9.30pm tonight.
After we dropped Darrell off at the airport, I spent the afternoon with Andy, Katie and Lexi at Zest. I had a lot to drink to be honest and it felt good drinking beer in the scorching heat of the day. We continued to chat, about where life was taking us all and despite the fact I will miss Darrell everyday, conversation ended on a positive note. After an evening with Jamie at Carabassi, I finally staggered home to bed, in the early hours!
Finally thank you to everyone for their messages of support at this time, they all make the difference between success and failure, which is not an option!
Peace and love always!
