Linda is back in Gran Alacant for a week and invited me round for afternoon lunch 'Scottish Stovies in the sun!' As a novice in the art of 'Stovies', I was interested in the recipe she uses.  Linda uses Aberdeen Angus Beef, although Linda told me, you can use sausages or as I suggested, corned beef.

I love the broth, the stovies are cooked in; as someone who drinks a lot of Bovril, it reminds me a lot of the brown stuff. Linda uses four OXO cubes, Worcestershire sauce and a little bit of HP sauce, seasoned with salt and pepper.

The stovies are cooked with onion, carrots and boiled potatoes; real comfort food; not something I had tasted or eaten, before I met Linda. I am also a big fan of haggis, faggots and black pudding, all of which reminds me of Stovies.  Good old fashioned food, cooked by  Grandmother, on a cold winters night.

To be honest, I wish I had bothered to visit Scotland, when I lived in Britain. The way Linda describes it, is the way, I have read about this mysterious and fascinating  country in books. Seemingly beautiful, It is somewhere I will go to one day, on my bucket list, of things to do before I die. If anything, I want to sample more Scottish food; Spanish Chorizo, just does not taste the same as Scottish Stovies!

Linda also brought me the biggest jar of Marmite she could find and some Morrisons doughnuts, something I had blogged about missing in the past.

Thank you  for a lovely afternoon Linda, welcome back to Spain!
