I couldn't be more angry today.  The internet has many bad, distasteful things on it, but what I didn't expect, to find, was a photo of a dog, being burned alive, on my facebook page. In all honesty, I am sick and tired of seeing violence, all over the Worlds biggest social networking platform. Even when you report such acts, you are told it doesn't break community guidelines, when it clearly does. Facebook really does need to get its house in order.

So what was it, I had stumbled across? A petition, to stop cats and dogs being burned alive, for food in China.  An absolute abhorrent practice, that should of course be outlawed.  There are however standards we should all follow here. The picture of this poor animal, being slaughtered, was being used by a dubious organisation to gain signatures to stop this hideous killing.  I am well aware, this kind of thing goes on in the World; I do not need to see the poor animal, emblazoned across facebook, used by children.  Do you really think your actions, will stop one animal from being killed? No, is the answer, not one. The Chinese authorities aren't going to take any notice of you or I, as much as they don't take notice of Governments, whoever they are, they are a law unto themselves.  The only reason that terrible picture is on facebook, is to get maximum likes and advertising revenue, at the expense of a dogs life.

Now lets think for a minute, the type of person, who looks at these pictures.  Most normal people, like me, quickly scroll by; we have seen it all before, and do our bit, to help halt this, in our own way.  The type of person, who stops and analyses this grotesque scene are those who couldn't give a damn about the life of an animal anymore than China does; they observe, in the same way, a group of people watch, as a gay man is thrown off a tower, in the middle east, by ISIS.  Humans are strange creatures and enjoy watching others misfortune, to satisfy their own dark desires.

These 'Side Shows', do nothing more, than perpetuate, the very act, it seeks to stop. Statistics have shown, that every time a photo of a dying animal is shown, similar Acts of violence are carried out, by evil sadistic individuals, who believe these incidents, on social media, validate what they are doing, by harming innocent pets.

Of course there are also many other acts of savagery shown on facebook and other platforms, equally as repugnant, all of which should be removed.  Whenever or wherever you see such material, you should report it and remove it from you view. Chances are facebook will not listen, but in time, even this mighty tech company, will have to take notice of peoples voices.  Do not legitimise these acts, by liking a page or signing a petition; they are not what they seem; remove and ignore them.  If you want to fight against animal cruelty, do it the proper way, through a recognised charity and help change the future.  Liking a page, does nothing more that grant the originator the attention they seek!
