It was another boiling hot day on Wednesday. We had  made arrangements to go and see Darrell's new employers. Their  Casa is about an hours drive away, from where we are, but we both had the day off, so the opportunity to get out and about was taken without a second thought!
His employers are absolutely wonderful. A far cry from what I was used to, before moving to Spain.  They are everything my previous employer wasn't. I spent a good few hours chatting with this lovely pair, who have lived in Spain for over thirty years.  Their advice was invaluable to us. Darrell is lucky to have found them!

On the way home, we popped into La Zenia.  Now I had heard how lovely this place was, from my previous boss at the Horse Care Charity and it certainly lived up to my expectations.

The area is far more established, than where we live, the views are beautiful and the sun was out.  We headed to the beach.  Jason bought me a Birthday meal at La Miranda, a fantastic restaurant,
The food there is great, all freshly cooked and presented beautifully.  Like most of Spain, the sea food is the best. It's the only time I get to eat fish, when I am out, because all of those I live with have an aversion towards it.  It was such a relaxing day in the sun, one we are not going to get often in the Summer!

La Zenia, like the region as a whole, has a large expat community, rather like that in GA.  There is a large Irish community there and it has a more holiday feel.  GA has changed and evolved over time, from a holiday destination to a more residential area. The two areas are very similar in many respects, with large concentrations of British and Scandinavian groups, which is the way it is in Valencia.
When we got back to GA we popped into Zest to have a drink with Brett and Lee. Always nice to see these guys, once home, I dragged Jamie down to Carabassi.  I've said it before, but we spend very little time in doors these days.  It was such a beautiful evening, that we decided to go and have fish and

Chips, down on the strip.

Spain has really done wonders for all our health, but especially mine and Jamies. Out of all of us, we have settled in well, better than we could have ever hoped for. Life has really begun for us, in the best way. In my opinion, it can only get better!

I opened up a new bank account today;  I have received my residency card and can now have an account, without paying charges.  We both bank at an international branch, everyone speaks English, so the process has been relatively painless.  No more charges is great.  I am actually being particularly

frugal with money these days.  A new cycle, clearly brings new challenges, which I have thus far embraced. Learning to once again budget and deal with financial matters, after a past, where my finances were never the best is going to be difficult, but I am at least trying. Something  I should have done years ago!
It was nice to grab a few hours of sunshine today.  It has been raining over the last few days and although not perfect, the sun was at least out, so we popped to our local beach for some rest and relaxation.!

I've got a busy weekend ahead at work.  We have a function on Friday, with The 'Pianoman', dinner and dance as well as a long twelve hour shift on Sunday for the Carvery.  We have lots of friends arriving from the UK next weekend, a few days in Benidorm and a surprise party,  All go here, at Casa Caprice! So lots of rest is called for!
