Woke up this morning, with a terrible hangover.  I had already arranged to go to The Nature Reserve in Gran Alacant (El Clot de Galvany), with Katie.  Jamie had come in at six in the morning, after I heard him banging on the door.  He had left his keys and bag at work and was trying to get in, suffering from an asthma attack.  It really was lucky I woke up, or god knows what would have happened. He was fine at least in the end.

We got to the reserve at about 1.30pm.  It was a hot day, at 28 degrees, but nothing like the 40 degrees, we have had in the past.  It was perfect walking weather.  As a person, I am not keen on walking at the best of times, but for once I was actually quite looking forward to a long ramble and time to clear my head.  I had had a phone call with my Brother from another Mother, last night, Gavin; walking in the Spanish countryside was just what the Doctor ordered.  I had time to think and gather my thoughts.

The scenery was glorious.  It looked rather like the wild west to be honest, with imposing deformed trees and lush green cacti in every direction.  The ground was dusty and, the terrain was mountainous, with numerous hills and rocks.  The views of Gran Alacant  and inland Spain were magnificent.

We walked for about two hours; I enjoyed every single step. The Spanish life, is an outdoor life, so for me, I am embracing every part of it.

As well as the scenery, there were also duck ponds and viewing chalets on the way round, the walk.  I have certainly never been into bird watching, but the experience of viewing these native species in their natural habitat, was fascinating.  I enjoyed every part of the encounter!

We ended the day, having a picnic, in the specially developed area, at the entrance to the park.

It's been great, continuing to get to know my new home town of Gran Alacant. El Clot de Galvany, is a special place, one of which, I am sure to be returning to, again and again!
