Christmas Thoughts - Dorinda Sweales!
"Thoughts from the South of France at Christmas.
As so many people are looking at France and are horrified by the violence and protests I find myself with mixed emotions, I fully support the protesters’ reasons for protesting and applaud the fact that it gets results here, it has for generations. But I abhor the violence and the criminality of those who think it’s acceptable to deface property and bring fear to shop holders and householders in the protest areas. These people aren’t protesting for good, they’re extremists jumping on any bandwagon around and it’s such a shame they grab the headlines when the party atmosphere of many of the protests countrywide is overlooked because it isn’t newsworthy.
The last month has seen us getting some of the most horrendous weather in our part of France. We head for Christmas very thankful that our daughter and her boyfriend managed to escape having their apartment flooded thanks to lots, and lots of sandbags. The weather went from flooding, see photo of the road outside their apartments, to beautiful clear blue skies and 22 degrees C within 24 hours!

With just a couple of weeks until Christmas our mild weather has brought us some early gifts, beautiful narcissus at home, and fairy tale pink camellias in our work garden.
We’ll be having our usual quiet Christmas, lots of celebrations and Fragile X syndrome don’t mix so we’ve come to accept the quiet life.
We’re extremely thankful to be living in a beautiful place where we’re able to take the boys to work with us. It’s the simple things that are important to keep mind and body healthy.
Wishing you a happy and healthy Christmas, and the same for 2019. xx"
